The Highly Cited Researchers list of 2024 selects and honors individuals whose research has had a profound and far-reaching impact on their respective fields. By employing rigorous selection criteria and comprehensive analysis, the list identifies researchers whose exceptional contributions have shaped the future of global science, technology, and academia.
Each researcher selected for this list has demonstrated admirable impact in their field and authored multiple Highly Cited Papers™. While citation activity is a key indicator, final selection also considers qualitative factors, such as breadth of influence and expert opinions, to identify individuals who have made a lasting impact on the research community. The Center for Microbiome Innovation (CMI) at University of California San Diego is proud to highlight the recognition received by 16 CMI faculty members whose accomplishments in research landed them a spot on this prestigious list.
